It was once again clear in Jeddah that Red Bull cannot be beaten. The Austrian racing team is simply too fast to keep up with the other teams. If that picture does not change this season, Max Verstappen or Sergio Perez will win the world championship. Which of these two drivers will win the world title this year?
Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen had a nice performance in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. But his performance in Jeddah was not memorable. In the end he was unable to overtake his teammate Sergio Perez, but an excellent last lap kept him the leader in the world championship.
'Verstappen and Perez must be able to fight'
The two-time world champion was clear in his answer to L'Equipe at the press conference: "If that's the case, it seems pretty easy to me, right? The Dutchman thinks that Red Bull should not interfere in the duel between the two. "Then we should be able to race and the best man will finish first.”
Sergio Perez
If the second season of Sergio 'Checo' Pérez with Red Bull Racing was better than the first, the third has started in a very good way for the Mexican driver on the track and also with the support of Christian Horner and also Helmut Marko, who he had been one of his chief critics.
Sergio Perez is determined to challenge Max Verstappen again in 2023. The Mexican has previously said he is ready to fight, but knows it will be difficult.
David Coulthard, a former driver, also thinks that Pérez should also look back on Daniel Ricciardo.
Christian Horner
According to Christian Horner, Sergio Pérez has no illusions about a possible world title in Formula 1 as long as he has Max Verstappen as a teammate. The Red Bull Racing team boss believes that the Mexican is doing an excellent job with the Austrian team, but beating Verstappen over a full season is a bit too ambitious for Pérez.
Verstappen has had an unprecedented last season with no fewer than fifteen victories, something no driver has ever achieved. Horner concludes that Pérez played an important role in winning the constructors' title, but he does not see the Mexican simply beating Verstappen for the drivers' world title. "I think that in the form in which Max is that he is the man to beat over a full season," he says in a YouTube video from Auto, Motor Sport.
The fact that Horner does not see the four-time Grand Prix winner beat Verstappen does not mean that he thinks that Pérez should not believe in that and should go for it. ‘Checo’ must strive for that, because why else would you participate? But in reality I think Max is the most likely candidate to take a shot at the world title. Incidentally, Checo is able to get close,' he thinks.
Conclusion
Max Verstappen is racing with the best car and consistently pushes the car to its limit, his aggressive driving style and ability to push his car to the limit without making mistakes have made him a force to be reckoned with on the track. This being said it is hard for anyone to see Sergio Perez able to beat Max to the title.
