Mercedes are on a mission to maintain their second position in the constructors championship. In order to keep this position they they are targeting a return to podium. This however is not the easiest task as they admit to 'worry' against Red Bull and the new and improved McLaren.
Despite the crash between Lewis Hamilton and George Russel at the Qatar Grand Prix, Hamilton and Russell displayed an impressive turn of pace at the Lusail International Circuit last time out, where they were able to secure second and third on grid in qualifying behind pole-sitting World Champion Max Verstappen.
The Mercedes Engineers were still able to monitor and get good information from the qualifying in Qatar. “We were expecting the car to work pretty well,” commented Shovlin. “We’d had the Sprint race to be able to see the pace of the car, so that was definitely encouraging.
Mercedes sit second in the constructors standing with five rounds remaining, 28 points ahead of Ferrari, 96 clear of Aston Martin and 107 up on McLaren.

Daniel Ricciardo has confirmed his return to the tracks during the United States Grand Prix in Austin. "It's good to be back" Ricciardo prepares for a comeback after a frustrating spell on the sidelines.
Ricciardo started the season as a reserve driver for the Red Bull team, but soon replaced Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri in July for the Hungarian Grand Prix. However, during an accident at the Dutch Grand Prix he suffered a broken arm and had to miss the last five races.
"It was definitely frustrating watching the past few races, especially as I’d gotten myself to a place where I was so ready to go again and race, and then I did two events and had to hit 'Pause' again, but actually, the time without racing went quite quickly."

Formula 1 Prediction | McLaren fights for a better Constructors Championship position
The race for third in the Formula 1 Constructors Championship is a battle between McLaren, Ferrari and Aston Martin. The runner up for the constructors is not over yet. There is far from clarity over who will get that second position. Who will end up on top?
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have expressed their goal to go after Aston Martin for fourth position in the constructors championship, but also putting pressure on third place against the Ferrari.
At the beginning of the season who would have taught to see the McLaren challenging the Aston Martin for fourth or Third Title, but since the change of team boss Andrea Stella, fortune has turned around dramatically. They have every since been surging their way to Podium finishes and even a recent double podium finish.
“I think we’re doing a good job, not just in terms of pace, but we had a 1.8-second pit stop, which is pretty impressive from the guys. They’ve been working extremely hard, so to reward the whole team consistently is only more motivating and a bigger boost every weekend.
Both Norris and Piastri think they are able to put the pressure on both teams in the following five races to gain that 79 points needed. The gap to Aston Martin is achievable, but to put pressure on the Ferrari is the goal.
