Formula 1 Prediction | Mercedes are back in the Mix
Toto Wolf being optimistic that things are "making much more sense". for Mercedes after a positive weekend for the team at the Canadian Grand Prix.
What seemed that Mercedes are having a third season struggling to compete in the front, we have now seen a turn around. The teams prospects seem to have improved during recent weekends, culminating in their first pole position and podium of the year with George Russell in Montreal, while Lewis Hamilton also scored his best race result of the season so far in P4.
Now the focus is on maintaining the positive run of form into the next event on the calendar, the Spanish Grand Prix, where Mercedes will bring further upgrades following on from the new front wing first introduced in Monaco.
“I think definitely since Imola we’ve taken the right steps and put parts on the car that were working,” said Wolff. “That is something that we were struggling with in the past couple of years.

Formula 1 Prediction | Can Ferrari bounce back from a horrible double DNF in Canada?
Ferrari are looking for a response to Canada as they had both cars DNF during the race. There was a real fight for the title ahead of the race and Ferrari was expected to be very competitive with just 24 points behind Red Bull.
During the Canadian Grand Prix we saw Ferrari struggle the entire weekend, as they failed to reach Q3 with either car and then saw both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz retire their car during the race.
The real question is, do they understand what happened and can they fix it?
The mixed conditions and power unit problem suffered by Leclerc makes it tough to read whether Ferrari had truly understood what went wrong in qualifying in Canada. Team Principal Fred Vasseur said after the race he was confident there would be a stronger performance on Sunday, and Leclerc also said the car felt good in the corners, but there are unanswered questions heading to Spain.
The Spanish Grand Prix has traditionally seen a number of teams bringing major upgrade packages in the past. Barcelona also marks the first race of a triple-header including Austria and Great Britain and is the start of five races in six weeks. That means if you bring an update to Spain, you will get significant value out of it in a short space of time.
