What happened at the Singapore Grand Prix?
The Winning streak by Max Verstappen and Redbull has ended last week at the Singapore Grand Prix. Verstappen started the season with a 13/15 race wins and a record breaking of 10 consecutive wins. This record however, comes to an end when Carlos Sainz took a very strategic move to win the Singapore Gand Prix. Sainz who started the race on Pole Position kept hold of the lead and was able to defend nicely against the two Mercedes by gifting his former McLaren team mate Lando Norris DRS in the closing stages to hold of the Silver Arrows, and sealing a second career win.
Formula 1 Prediction | Can Max Verstappen and the Red Bulls bounce back?
It was a difficult track last week for the Red Bull's. They knew going in that they needed to make adjustments for this street track and they just could not figure it out completely. Neither drivers from Red Bull made it through Q2 in Singapore but they expect to be very competitive going into Suzuka, where the track suit the RB19 very well, this is mostly due to the number of long, high speed corners.
Bouncing back from a Singapore would be fair to that its inevitable, even if it doesn't quite work out this weekend it will hardly be a disaster for Red Bull and Max Verstappen. They only need to extend their advatage over Mercedes by one point or lose no more than 23 points to Ferrari in order to take the Constructors Championship.
The Odds for Max Verstappen to win the race is still in his favor as he won the race last year in a reasonable emphatic fashion. Formula 1 Prediction | Max Verstappen to win the Japanese Grand Prix = 1.28
Formula 1 Prediction | Will Carlos Sainz and Ferrari continue their Hot Red Streak?
The winning streak for Carlos Sainz and Ferrari did not start in Singapore, but they where also a threat to the Red Bull in Monza when Sainz started at Pole Position.
Whether a similarly smooth start to the Suzuka weekend will allow the pressure to remain on Red Bull remains to be seen, but you can be sure that Ferrari can’t let their standards drop given the threat from Mercedes, McLaren and Aston Martin.
And while Red Bull close in on the constructors’ title, the fight for second place is only getting more intense, with Mercedes now just 24 points ahead of Ferrari.
The Odds for Carlos Sainz to win the race is still possible as they have been doing very well during qualifying and with more experience they are making the right strategy calls to put pressure on the Red Bulls. Formula 1 Prediction | Carlos Sainz to win the Japanese Grand Prix = 17.0
Formula 1 Prediction | Can McLaren's recent upgrade secure another Podium?
The McLaren started making significant upgrades since Silverstone and their racing pace seems to be here for good. Last Race in Singapore they made yet another upgrade, but there was only time to get one seat ready and Lando Norris made the most of it, securing his best ever start in Singapore.
Lando then drove an accomplished race, absorbing great pressure from a much faster George Russell while also benefiting from the gift of DRS from his former team mate Carlos Sainz to secure his third podium of the season.
Oscar Piastri was still in the old spec McLaren and had to recover from an early exit out of Q1 to climb 10 places to finish a superb seventh. This is his sixth top-10 finish of the year and is yet to get on the podium.
This week both drivers will have the new upgrades on the car and are looking to secure another Podium Finish.
The Odds for Lando Norris to finish on the podium will be a great battle between the Ferrari's and Mercedes. Formula 1 Prediction | Lando Norris to finish on the podium at the Japanese Grand Prix = 2.37
Formula 1 Prediction | Will George Russell recover after a heartbreaking final lap crash in Singapore?
George Russell was heartbroken after he crashed on the final lap while fighting with Lando Norris for P2. The Briton arguably the fastest driver on the field on Sunday was not able to pull it off and ran into the wall.
The Mercedes driver Russell had started the race on the front row for the first time since Australia, which was 12 races ago. He took the risk late on the race to lose two position with a stop for fresh medium tires in the hope he could fight his way back to win the race.
He dispatched Leclerc with ease, but couldn’t find a way past Norris. He clipped the wall when in pursuit and skated off into the barriers for what was his second non-points finish in three Grands Prix.
Can he recover mentally from that race and prepare himself for another chance at podium in Suzuka? Formula 1 Prediction | The Odds for George Russell to finish on the podium at the Japanese Grand Prix = 3.5
