Formula 1 Prediction | Ferrari need to bounce back after mediocre Spanish GP
Ferrari brought new upgrades in the past few races, but did not see the same improvements like McLaren and Mercedes, they have in fact been slightly off. Last weekend was a return to the fight near the front but fifth and sixth in both qualifying and the race suggested there is a little bit more work to do to truly challenge.
Despite the upgrades that was introduced in Spain, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were unable to fight for the podium. However, they were able to fight against each other, with some close racing early on seeing Leclerc criticize Sainz for his overtaking move.
After the race, the pair were also seen having an animated discussion in parc ferme, and then Sainz fired back at Leclerc, saying “I think too many times he complains after a race about something”.

Formula 1 Prediction | McLaren hunting down Ferrari and Red Bull
McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella has said the performance of his team’s MCL38 machine is now “very, very close” to Red Bull’s previously indomitable RB20 in the aftermath of the Spanish Grand Prix.
Since McLaren started their upgrades all the way back in Miami, we immediately saw an upturn in the teams form. With Lando Norris securing a breakthrough maiden victory at that race. Ever since Miami, McLaren has finished in P2 at every Grand Prix.
They were also able to secure a pole position in Spain, which was Norris's second pole position of his career, but at the end finished in P2. This was a race that they should and could have won, but small mistakes here and there caused them the win.
Looking at the big picture, however, Stella was encouraged by the impressive performance his team were showing currently – especially compared to their difficult start to 2023.

Formula 1 Prediction | Mercedes Closing the Gap at the top
McLaren’s consistency has been impressive but so too have been the gains made by Mercedes in recent weeks, with a growing momentum and confidence within the team. But from challenging for the win in Canada they were a little further off the pace in Spain, and will look to make further progress at the Red Bull Ring.
Lewis Hamilton was asked during the press conference if he feels that Mercedes are building some momentum now and he replied:
We definitely are. We definitely are. We're definitely getting more consistent. And if I can just get my qualifying to be like this weekend, then it makes the Sunday so much easier. Also, if you get a good start. But my Saturdays have been so bad for the last, like, 15 races. So it's good to have a clean weekend. And hopefully, this puts us in a good position to challenge in the next few races.
