Arsenal vs Liverpool | Matchday
Arsenals's dominant last Tuesday night win versus Nottingham Forest has put some pressure on Liverpool. However the Reds responded with their own commanding home performance against Chelsea, beating them 4-1.
If Liverpool can get all three points, they will make a strong case, becoming this seasons title favorites. A win for Arsenal is crucial, by closing the gap within two points of the league leaders.
In the last five games, Arteta's men have lost three and won two. One of those games was against Liverpool in the FA Cup, which Liverpool has won by two goals to nil.
Nevertheless the Gunners seem to have steadied the ship, who are still to prove they can go toe to toe with Manchester City and Klopp's men to make it a three horse title race.
Liverpool on the other hand has won 4 of their last 5 games. The Reds are currently on a 15 match unbeaten run, which is no easy accomplishment. With Jurgen Klopp announcing he will be leaving the club at the end of this season, knowing Klopp's legacy, the Reds will leave everything on the pitch.
Team news
Arsenal are still without Thomas Partey following a setback in his hamstring injury.
As of this moment there is no update about the return of Fabio Vieira and Jurriën Timber.
Mohamed Elneny has returned from the African Cup of Nation, while Takehiro Tomiyasu remains unavailable having just concluded his international duty with Japan in the Asian Cup.
Liverpool's number nine Darwin Nunez sustained a foot injury last Wednesday against Chelsea. As of yet it is unclear if he will be fit to compete. Long absentee Thiago has returned to full training, but Klopp is still without main man Mohamed Salah, Kostas Tsimikas, Stefan Bajcetic, Joel Matip, Endo and Ben Doak.
